Una Pizza Napoletana Tops 50 Top Pizza’s 2026 List of America’s Best Pizzerias

For the fourth time, Anthony Mangieri’s Lower East Side spot takes the crown — while California closes the gap and New York keeps its grip on the rankings.

Una Pizza Napoletana in New York has been named the best pizzeria in the United States for 2026 by 50 Top Pizza, the Italy-based guide whose annual rankings carry serious weight in the pizza world. The awards were announced May 27 at the Haft Theater in New York City, and Anthony Mangieri’s celebrated Neapolitan-style pizzeria claimed the No. 1 spot for the fourth time.

Who Topped the List

Mangieri’s pizzeria is known for a stripped-back menu and a wood-fired, single-minded devotion to dough — the kind of restraint that’s a lot harder to pull off than a loaded specialty pie. California took the next tier hard: Pizzeria Sei in Los Angeles and Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco tied for second, with Razza in Jersey City at No. 3 and Truly Pizza in Dana Point at No. 4.

The ranking runs all the way to 50, capped by Lucky Dough Pizza in Pensacola. The mix of pizza styles on the list — old-school Neapolitan, New York slices, deep-dish Chicago, and modern wood-fired hybrids — is exactly why arguing about “best pizza” never gets old.

New York Stays the Pizza Capital

If you needed proof that New York still runs American pizza, the numbers settle it. The guide placed 27 New York pizzerias overall, with 24 inside New York City itself. California followed with 13, and Florida landed 10 — Miami alone is clearly having a moment.

According to 50 Top Pizza’s curators, the American scene keeps getting more stylistically diverse and more consistent at the top. That tracks with what we’ve seen at home, too: the gap between a great pizzeria pie and a great homemade New York-style pizza is narrower than it’s ever been, mostly because techniques that used to be pizzeria secrets are now everywhere.

“Best pizza” is a moving target — and in 2026, more of the country is hitting it.

The Best Slice Shops

50 Top Pizza runs a separate ranking for slice shops, which is its own beautiful category — less about a single perfect pie and more about the corner spot you actually visit twice a week. The 2026 top three:
